The Founding Females® Business Hack Series
Welcome to the third edition of the Founding Females® Business Hack Series: a monthly collection of crowd-sourced wisdom from women entrepreneurs around the world.
Last month, we talked about Own Your Authority: 13 Ways to Go from Entrepreneur to Thought Leader. This month, we’re shifting our focus to a topic every female founder has struggled with at some point: marketing and strategic visibility for your brand. Here, we’ll reveal proven strategies for how to attract clients and drive revenue in your business. You’ll learn from bold, authoritative women and understand how to target, reach, and convert clients you’re best fit to serve.
At Founding Females®, we know women have vast collective intelligence to share.
Each time one of us discovers a smarter workflow, a mindset shift that elevates the outcome, or a strategy that frees up time and mental space, it becomes something worth sharing.
This series celebrates what women do so well: link arms and clear the path for the next woman to thrive.
Each month, we invite women founders, consultants, creatives, and CEOs from every corner of the globe to submit their best “business hack” aligned with intentional topics designed to help women lead, grow, and expand our businesses.
The result is a growing library of practical wisdom from real women doing good work in real businesses, all curated here in one place so you can learn, grow, and build a business that supports your life, not the other way around.

Marketing and Strategic Visibility: Attract Clients and Drive Revenue
“One idea, everywhere.”
“Content repurposing hack: One idea, everywhere.
One of the easiest ways to boost visibility without burning out is to repurpose a single piece of content across all your platforms. Start with a core idea like a tip, story, or lesson, and create one primary format: a video, blog post, or podcast episode.
Next, break it into multiple, platform-specific pieces. Turn your video into Reels, TikToks, or short clips for social media. Pull quotes or tips for Instagram and LinkedIn posts, and design a carousel or infographic for visual learners. Summarize the key points in your email newsletter to engage your audience directly. Embed the video in your blog, use the audio for a podcast, and even convert the script into a downloadable PDF or checklist.
This approach does more than save time, it reinforces your message across touch points, increasing reach and engagement. One well-crafted idea, thoughtfully repurposed, can fuel weeks of content, establish consistency, and position you as a visible expert in your niche.”

“Aim to find a common thread in the feedback to find clearer customer insights.”
“When uncovering your positioning and diving into customer research- don't ask your customer/ clients - WHY, instead shift to questions like "How did it feel when you received (product/service) or how would you describe this experience to a friend or What surprised you most about the experience? Aim to find a common thread in the feedback to find clearer customer insights so you can base your positioning around your specific people!”

“I stopped trying to sound 'professional' and started leading with personality.”
“I stopped trying to sound 'professional' and started leading with personality, it became my biggest competitive advantage.
Early on, I thought I needed to sound polished and corporate to be taken seriously as a designer. My website was pretty but bland. My messaging was safe. And I was competing on portfolio and price like everyone else.
Here's what changed everything: I ditched the "agency speak" and let my real personality show up. In my brand, my website copy, my client interactions, all of it. I stopped designing "pretty" brands and started creating personality-packed brands that feel like the actual human behind the business.
Turns out, clients don't want faceless. They want real. They want to work with someone they connect with, not just someone with a nice portfolio.
The result? I went from blending in with every other designer to having clients say "I chose you because you just get me" before we even hop on a call. My personality became my differentiator and it's the reason clients choose Spark & Soul over bigger agencies.
My advice: Stop hiding behind polish. Your personality is your competitive edge. Let it lead and watch the right clients choose you every single time.”
Tabitha DeSeranno, founder of Spark & Soul Design Studio | @sparkandsouldesign | Garrett, IN, USA
“Treat podcast interviews like mini launches.”
“I don’t treat podcast interviews like PR. I treat them like mini launches. Before I hit record, I prep two power moves:
1- A tight opener that says who I help, the result I deliver, and a quick proof point. Like: “I help established coaches turn podcast interviews into $10K clients; my last guest spot booked three high-ticket calls in 48 hours.” Short, punchy, undeniable.
2- A one-liner that makes listeners think “I need that” and tells them exactly what to do. Formula: problem + promise + next step. Example: “If your interviews get applause but not clients, grab my Interview-to-Income checklist at bethnydick.com or DM me ‘FoundingFemalesco’ on instagram and I’ll send it to you.”
Every appearance turns into trackable leads, qualified calls, and cash. This hack isn’t “bigger shows.” It’s sharper message, fewer clicks, and a short runway that turns attention into revenue.”
Beth Nydick, founder of Beth Nydick MEDIA | @bethnydick | Livingston
“Drop a voicenote via text and say "the story that I'm telling myself about taking this action is...".”
“Mindset hack: When you hear that inner critic in your head get loud. Yep, usually when you are about to hit 'publish', go live, launch something new and expansive. Voice the exact limiting belief that you hear in your head to a TRUSTED and LIKEMINDED peer or fellow female founder.
Drop a voicenote via text and say "the story that I'm telling myself about taking this action is...". Then list the thoughts - "I'm not ready yet", "nobody is going to buy", "who am I to do this?"
Then, record another one right after with your re-write, "but the new story that my higher self believes is true is....". Then call upon that future self, that you see yourself as on a good day, and re-wire that narrative. Something like - "I am brave", "I've done tough things before", "I am ready", and "I'll take one step at a time". Then take a deep breath and send it, publish it, launch it.
As soon as we say out loud those beliefs inside our head, they begin to dissipate! When you clear these mindset blocks, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. Other female founders understand this challenge, lean on one another for support.”
Kristin Swanson, founder of KS Consulting | @kristin_swanson_ | Seattle, WA
“Your ‘Visibility Hour’ will look different than mine… but carve it in stone. It will change everything.”
“The most transformative habit I’ve built into my business is what I call The Visibility Hour, a non-negotiable, weekly 60-minute block dedicated solely to nurturing, pitching, and amplifying my brand. No client work. No scrolling. No admin. Just intentional visibility.
During that hour, I focus on three things:
Identify one story worth sharing: a client win, a behind-the-scenes lesson, or a strong opinion that positions me as a trusted expert.
Pitch or post it strategically: whether it’s a podcast, a reporter request, or a platform where my ideal audience actually pays attention.
Repurpose it immediately so one story becomes a Reel, an email, a podcast angle, and a website update.
This simple practice created a compounding effect: more interviews, more referrals, more authority, and more aligned clients finding me on their own. When you commit to being visible consistently—not perfectly, just consistently—your brand becomes easier to discover, easier to trust, and easier to buy from.
Your Visibility Hour will look different than mine… but carve it in stone. It will change everything.”
KJ Blattenbauer, founder of Hearsay PR | @kjblattenbauer | Dallas, TX, USA
“Choosing progress over perfection has allowed me to build momentum, create impact, and trust that each step forward adds up to something bigger.”
“As a new business owner, one mindset shift that’s made all the difference for me is embracing the power of starting before I feel ‘ready.’
Launching Last Minute Events in July taught me that clarity often comes through action, and not necessarily waiting on that perfect moment.
Every event, every client conversation, every collaboration has been a chance to learn and grow.
Choosing progress over perfection has allowed me to build momentum, create impact, and trust that each step forward adds up to something bigger.”
Janelly Torres, founder of Last Minute Events | @last.minute.events | Union, NJ, USA
“Collaborating with other fashion brands and stylists for photoshoots, popups, fashion shows, editorials is key to gaining new customers.”
“Vuliwear is a luxury eyewear brand and I've found that collaborating with other fashion brands and stylists for photoshoots, popups, fashion shows, editorials is key to gaining new customers.
The cross promotion is priceless. You post and they post so its 2 for 1. Sometimes as owners/creators we think sharing the spotlight will take away your products shine, but its really the opposite and there's enough light and customers for everyone.
Additionally, when you invite collaboration, I've found that most will in turn do the same for you. You have to put your brand out there with every smart and aligned opportunity.”
Dionne Ellison, founder of Vuliwear | @vuliwear_official | Clementon, NJ, USA
“You absolutely need an AI powered lead generation intake system!”
“You absolutely need an AI powered lead generation intake system! Not only does this save time, reduce free consults, and weed out tire kickers, but by building in consultative feedback and advice, you build early trust with a potential client.”
Jenna Nelson, founder of HerAIgency | @heraigency | Nashville, TN, USA
“I noticed if you share your reels to your story, they always choke your views…”
“I noticed if you share your reels to your story, they always choke your views, but I wanted to make sure that my current audience sees the new reels.
So, I started taking my reels and using an app called "Split Video" and cutting them into 60 second clips and posting to my stories. (I also always personally tag myself in my business stories and accept the collab on my personal page so both audiences grow.)
That way the story has the hook, captions, and CTA and gets me comments and leads from my stories.”
Kara Williams, founder of Help Me Kara | @helpmekara | Fort Payne, AL USA
“Create a tangible passion project to really show your work and its impact off.”
“Instead of simply relying on verbally explaining your work and ideal clients, create a tangible passion project to really show your work and its impact off.
Think of it as an ideal portfolio piece or work sample. A passion project can be a completely made up project or a hypothetical one for an actual ideal client.
Personal work like this helps you demonstrate your excitement and skills as well as attract ideal clients.
Bonus points if you leverage the project to build you overall brand. Ask yourself: What's something you want to be known for? And how can you create a stand-out (and share-worthy) project that resonates with your ideal clients?”
Chelsie Tamms, founder of Lettering Works, LLC | @letteringworks | Chicago, IL USA
“I stopped explaining productivity tips and started diagnosing decision overload, which is the hidden reason capable women stall, re-decide, and fail to follow through.”
“One of the most game-changing shifts I made in my business was stopping content that tried to motivate everyone and instead using my messaging to filter for decision-ready clients.
Most business owners are taught to attract as many people as possible. The problem is that visibility without discernment brings attention, not revenue. I was getting reach and engagement, but very few buyers.
The “hack” was simple but uncomfortable. I stopped explaining productivity tips and started diagnosing decision overload, which is the hidden reason capable women stall, re-decide, and fail to follow through.
Instead of offering webinars or endless free training, I invite people into short, guided working containers that require a brief fit conversation upfront. That single step filters out browsers and attracts women who are ready to act and buy.
The result has been fewer conversations, higher-quality clients, and far less energy spent convincing people. Strategic visibility is not about being everywhere. It is about being unmistakable to the right people.”
Nancy Garfinkel | founder of Nancy Garfinkel, the no-BS coach | @coach_nancy_garfinkel | Fuquay-Varina, NC USA
“Create a whole network of co-marketing with like-minded businesses.”
”My biggest hack has been to create a whole network of co-marketing with like-minded businesses through the Power Beauty Collab. We do retail activations, share content, create promotions and more -- all to help each other grow by leveraging each other's networks. It's become a key strategy for our small business growth.”
Lynn Power, founder of MASAMI | @lovemasamihair | Palm Springs, CA, USA
“I started showing up in the same spaces as the people I actually wanted to work with.”
”Stop networking everywhere and start showing up intentionally.
Early on, I spent a lot of time in general networking groups filled with other business owners. It felt productive, but most of those connections were never going to become clients. I was busy, but not growing.
Things changed when I started showing up in the same spaces as the people I actually wanted to work with. Not to pitch, sell, or awkwardly hand out business cards, just to be present where they already spend time.
When you are in the right rooms, people already understand your value and the problems you solve. Conversations feel easier. Trust builds faster. Opportunities come more naturally.
Not every room deserves your energy. Time is limited, and proximity matters.
Choose rooms based on who you want to work with, not who looks good on a networking list. The right room will do more for your business than endless networking ever will. Being in the right room can change everything.”
AnnMarie Zezima, founder of Organized A to Z Inc | @getorganizedatoz | Toronto, Ontario, Canada
“You have to be specific and understandable and memorable!”
”When I left big law to start my own firm, I was deeply in need of clients so I cast a wide net. I described my services as "representing any company that is too small to need in house counsel."
Very little business came from that approach so I switched it up to describing myself as a securities lawyer.
One day, a woman asked me "oh, does that mean you keep companies safe?" which is NOT the case. Securities lawyers represent companies that are raising money.
She advised me to JUST SAY THAT and it was the aha moment of my business!
Now I just say "I am a lawyer who represents companies that are raising money." Prospective clients get it and the firm has grown exponentially! You have to be specific and understandable and memorable!”
Leslee Cohen, founder of AllRise Legal Counsel, LLC | @allrise_legal | Chicago, Illinois, USA
“Just like having a workout buddy, creating with someone brings accountability and a sense of community.”
”One game-changing hack that's helped my business grow is creating content with a buddy. As a brand photographer, I know firsthand how important it is to be the face of your brand and build that like-know-trust factor, but it can feel so daunting and scary. Just like having a workout buddy, creating with someone brings accountability and a sense of community, reminding you that you're not alone.
We pick a date, plan what photos or videos we need, and get to work. Having someone to create with makes showing up something you actually look forward to. It's no longer scary or exhausting. It's motivating, energizing, and genuinely fun! Even having the extra nudge to hit publish, or posting on each other’s behalf, makes a huge difference. Plus, it opens the door for collaborations on reels and content that reach way more people than going it alone!
The best part is that it turns visibility from a chore into a creative, joyful practice that consistently grows your business and connects you with the right clients.”
Emily Lewis, founder of Emily Lewis Creative | @elewiscreative | Carmel, IN USA
“My biggest learning and growth over the years has come from matching my marketing to my personality.”
”My biggest learning and growth over the years has come from matching my marketing to my personality.
There are SO many ways you can grow your business and it’s easy to watch how “everyone else” is doing it and try to fit into a mold that may not suit you. I learned early on that if I enjoyed “how” I promoted my business, I always got better results - more connection, opportunities, engagement and income.
My favorite marketing techniques include networking, speaking, guesting (podcasts, interviews), writing (articles, email and social) and creating content and programs that both teach and inspire. I’ve experimented a lot but these always work AND feel good to me.
I’ve also coached many women who are introverts, for example, and don’t love promotion. So we’ve made connecting more comfortable (coffee dates vs. large networking meetings) or focused on income streams (products, courses) where they share expertise without having to be “on stage”.
I feel it’s important to stretch when it comes to marketing that can fuel growth…and I always get nervous when trying something new!! But focusing on what’s natural, exciting and inspiring is where I’ve always gotten the best results.”
Courtney Parks, founder of Courtney Parks Coaching | @courtneyparkscoaching | Redondo Beach, CA, US
“I never had to “sell” to grow a real estate business—just serve deeply where I was already planted.”
”My game-changing hack was realizing I never had to “sell” to grow a real estate business—just serve deeply where I was already planted.
My husband’s career moved us from California to Nevada, Missouri, and Illinois, so I earned a license in every state and started over with zero sphere each time. Instead of relying on friends and family or awkward self-promotion, I embedded myself in the communities I was already living life in—especially my kids’ schools and our local neighborhoods.
In Las Vegas, that meant serving on school advisory boards, launching a PTA, partnering with the Nevada Housing Division to educate teachers on down-payment assistance, securing grants, and organizing community events. In Missouri, it evolved into church women’s groups, PTSA and Board of Education service, HOA leadership, newsletters I hand-delivered while walking our German Shepherd, and neighborhood events no one had ever bothered to create.
The result: over $1M in sales volume within 10 months in St. Louis—and a reputation built on trust, visibility, and genuine care, not sales pitches.”
Eliza Tyler, REALTOR | @elizatylerrealtor | Dunlap, IL USA
“One thing that helped my business grow was using social media as a networking tool, not just as a marketing tool.”
”One thing that helped my business grow was using social media as a networking tool, not just as a marketing tool.
I intentionally followed and connected with my peers and people in roles and industries that compliment my work and I engaged with their content. I DMed them. I had virtual coffee dates.
Not only did this lead to building great friendships, but great connections that led to referrals for some of the highest paid projects I've had to date.
The moral of the story: don't just post & ghost! Use social media as the networking tool that it is.”
Gabriella Layne-Avery, Strut Communications | @strutsocialwithgabby | Long Beach, CA, USA
