Business Mastermind Feature: Lindsay Wineinger of Wineinger’s Country Feed & Supply and The Feed Store
Craving to connect with women business owners who are carving out unique avenues toward entrepreneur success?
Building a successful business goes way beyond publishing a website and posting on social media. It means building strong relationships with people you can advance with.
After all, growing into the person capable of running a wildly successful business isn’t about what you do as much as it’s about the community you surround yourself with.
This Business Mastermind Feature Series spotlights women in the Founding Females® women’s mastermind group so we can create a tighter web where women-led businesses can uplift one another.
The women business owners you’ll meet in this Business Mastermind series bring value to the community of women in unique ways. I can’t wait to share their growth and success with you! First, let’s cover one big question: What is a women’s business mastermind?
What is the Founding Females Women’s Business Mastermind?
The Founding Females women business mastermind is a female entrepreneur community that connects regularly inside an online hub as a women’s business mastermind group. Inside the mastermind ecosystem, there’s a buzzing conversation about business mastermind topics that really matter to small business owners, like marketing, finance, how to grow, and personal development.
Each month, we host a recurring mastermind call where members share their business wisdom for growth on specific business topics. It’s one of the impactful ways we collectively help advance each other as business owners.
Community Over Competition
The Mastermind is also a safe space to connect about wins and challenges with other success-minded women. Women in the community understand what it’s like to run a business and can provide support and constructive feedback that actually makes a difference in how you run your business.
We’re a collective of passionate business owners who know there’s enough success to go around. We have willing hearts to guide and support each other through challenging and rewarding seasons of business.
Without further ado, let’s connect you with a woman business owner who brings encouragement and sunshine into our female entrepreneur community: Lindsay Wineger.
Women’s Mastermind Group Feature
Our first Mastermind Feature in the series is Lindsay Wineger from Wineinger's Country Feed & Supply and The Feed Store. Read on to hear all about how Lindsay and her husband started the businesses, how it all began with fluffy baby chicks, and how Lindsay has grown through entrepreneurship.
FF: Please introduce us to Wineger’s Country Feed & Supply and The Feed Store.
Lindsay: Wineinger's Country Feed & Supply has 2 stores; one locally in Princeville, IL & another in Burlington, IA. We are a certified Purina dealer working with animal owners to become an expert at taking care of their animals/farm.
In 2021, we opened The Feed Store, a restaurant located in on Princeville location to fulfill a need to the community and have an outlet for our home grown beef. We branched out to many other consumable products, but hold true to supporting agriculture, small business & small town America.
FF: Tell us about how your business came to be.
Lindsay: My husband, Nathan, and I both graduated during the recession between 2008-10 and found it really hard to find a job with our college degrees. We took jobs in landscaping and clerical work and then helped with grain harvest jobs during harvest. Plus, Nathan became a football coach.
We wanted to plug back in to our community some way, somehow. My husband bought me baby chicks as a birthday present one year. On one of his many trips to the feed store, the owner approached him. The owner was familiar with our family values and our work ethic and asked if we had any interest in purchasing the business.
After lots of prayer and a big family meeting, in 2016 we took over Country Feed & Supply. Over the next seven years, we worked to grow the business providing resources for farmers, an income for our growing family, and job opportunities for our community.
We opened The Feed Store - our restaurant - in 2021 to fulfill a need of quality food (not gas station food) in our community and to provide an outlet for our personal angus beef herd.
Our newest addition was Country Feed & Supply in Burlington, IA in December of 2023. We are working to create more availability at an economical price that both benefit the business and the consumer. AND we just REALLY love the Agriculture community & want to work to support and create awareness.
FF: What kind of client is a great fit for you? In other words, who do you love working with and/or who have you helped find great success?
Lindsay: Each one of our businesses serves a different group of people:
Country Feed in Princeville serves more of our farmers (both hobby & commercial) and our equestrian community (boarding facilities & hobby riders).
Country Feed in Burlington, IA serves over 75% pet owners, mainly women.
The Feed Store Restaurant serves our broadest audience, mainly families and women buying a quick dinner for evening events.
FF: Tell us about how you create transformation for your clients. In other words, how do you help them reach their goals?
Lindsay: We work VERY hard to have the resources to make our customers become experts of their animals. We work to earn the trust of our customers and I truly believe that shows in a customer return rate of over 70%.
FF: How would you describe your own personal growth journey through entrepreneurship?
Lindsay: In my experience, business growth and personal growth go hand in hand. Our businesses are thriving most when we have taken the time to evaluate and invest in ourselves AND when we give space to dream and ask the hard questions. We work to shut out all our "shoulds" and work to grow right where our feet are planted.
Be part of something special by joining Lindsay and the strong female community inside the Founding Females Mastermind.
FF: What are your favorite business topics to discuss?
Lindsay: Community and Mindset
FF: Why did you decide to join the Founding Females® Mastermind?
Lindsay: I have connected to many other women in agriculture all across the US and Canada, but I wanted to connect with women right in my own backyard. I was thrilled that FF was in place and working to connect women already!
FF: Let’s get social! Can you share the best places to connect with you?
