Women’s Business Mastermind Feature: Krystal Stegmaier, founder of Free and Purposed

The Real Luxuries in Life

I read something recently that hit hard:

“The real luxuries in life are:

  • Being in good health

  • A home filled with love

  • Work that lights you up

  • Relationships with depth

  • A calm nervous system

  • Spending time how you choose.”

And I can’t stop thinking about the “relationships with depth” part.

In a world where we’re more connected than ever and yet more lonely than we’ve ever been, it’s the people in our lives - those in-person relationships - that add so much meaning and richness.

One of those people who adds incredible richness in my life is Krystal Stegmaier, founder of Free and Purposed. Her tenacity to persevere through challenges all while bringing positivity and a warm smile is contagious. That’s why I’m thrilled to present Krystal next in our lineup of women business owners inside the Founding Females® Women’s Business Mastermind.

The women business owners we introduce in this series bring value to the rest of us in insightful, growth-fueled ways. I’m delighted to share their growth and success with you!

First, let’s cover one big question: What is a women’s business mastermind?

What is a Mastermind for Women Business Owners?

The Founding Females® women business mastermind group is a female entrepreneur space online away from social media where members find support and belonging in a community full of ideas about how to grow their businesses.

Inside the Mastermind community is a buzzing conversation about business topics that make a difference for how women run their businesses. Inside, we talk through topics important to female entrepreneurs like

  • how to craft an effective campaign launch,

  • how to build a resilient business,

  • mental health for female entrepreneurs, and

  • how to develop multiple streams of revenue.

Each month, Founding Females® Mastermind members access a transformative one-hour Mastermind call where all members share their best business wisdom on a specific business topic. Outside of that call, women engage daily through posts, comments, and direct messages. It’s the dialogue and connection that fuels growth.

Friends, Meet Krystal Stegmaier

It’s my honor to introduce you to Krystal, founder of Free and Purposed! Krystal just hit her one-year anniversary inside the Founding Females® Mastermind. In that time, we’ve cheered her on through publishing her first book and journal, developing a book launch tour, rolling out her women’s groups across the country, and developing a series of 12 videos to accompany her book and journal, Captivating Creation: Seasons. Let’s dive in so you can meet this amazing woman and entrepreneur!

FF: Krystal, let’s hear more about Free and Purposed.

Krystal: I am a certified professional life coach and author of the book "Captivating Creation: Seasons."

I help women find freedom and purpose within their faith and life struggles through coaching and the "Captivating Creation: Seasons" video book study, recently released.

The study takes a group or individual each week throughout the book, helping them gain accountability, and the tools to create and follow through with their action steps for each week.

I will be sharing what freedom looks like this year, speaking at different churches, women's ministries and groups.

My motto is: "We get one life. Find your version of freedom and purpose so you can live out the amazing woman God has created you to be."

FF: Tell us about how Free and Purposed came to be a small business.

Krystal: I did hair for 18 years, which I absolutely loved! After physically not being able to continue, along with a few life altering events, I was challenged to post a scripture for 10 days on Facebook.

As I was following through with this challenge, I couldn't share without posting a photo (my hubby and I do photography on the side), as well as being authentic. I shared what it meant to me, as well as encouraged others within their struggle.

After the ten days were up, I continued to post verses with photos and encouragement. This is what birthed "Captivating Creation: Seasons."

Two years into writing it, I had writer's block. The missing piece to the book was the knowledge I needed in going to life coaching school. I learned how to ask deep thought-provoking questions within each of the twelve topics within the book.

This schooling also helped me write, "Captivating Creation: Journaling Your Way to Freedom," which is like a coaching session through each week.

FF: What kind of client are you best fit to serve?

Krystal: Any woman who is struggling within her faith journey, having a lack of hope with absolutely no confidence in who she was created to be.

Maybe she has no clue who she is. She may struggle with not feeling like she's enough or a complete failure to society. I LOVE empowering women. I LOVE watching that light bulb go off when I watch someone step into their version of awesome!

God created us each so uniquely and with an amazing purpose. When I see the walls of freedom become unleashed in someone's life through the tools I've shared, my heart smiles BIG :)
One of the women who recently went through my video study said she has freedom "knowing God is in control, and it’s okay to not be in charge of yourself and account for everything all the time."

FF: Share a client success story!

Krystal: Someone who first began her journey through one of my book study groups was completely hopeless, super anxious, and really struggled to hear from God. She finished her journey full of hope, freedom from anxiety, understanding what an authentic relationship with Jesus looked like. My heart is full!

FF: How would you describe your own personal growth journey through entrepreneurship?

Krystal: I'm not gonna lie...I have really struggled with impulsivity and control, but I'm learning how to slow down and trust God through the process. I'm able to enjoy my family more instead of being sucked by pressing deadlines. I'm able to breathe a little more, and enjoy the journey! Good things take time.

FF: Krystal, tell us about your favorite business topics.

Krystal: I really enjoy writing, creating and editing videos. It's something that can be complicated, but there are so many ways to simplify and execute authentic, yet professional videos.

FF: Why did you decide to join the Founding Females® Mastermind?

Krystal: In the summer of 2023, I was at a dinner with a group of ladies. One of them mentioned Francie could really help me as I pursue the next steps in launching my book, since she recently launched, "Dream, Build, Grow."

I began to attend the local Meet Up in Peoria, and gained a plethora of knowledge and direction, not just from Francie, but also the amazing women in business in the community.

After I attended the Founding Females® Conference in October of 2023, I decided to go all-in and began the Founding Females® Mastermind to kick of 2024.

After one year of joining, I have gained so much connection and accountability. I have a group of amazing ladies cheering me on and challenging me through each step of my journey as I move forward to be the best version of myself. Thank you Francie for chasing your dreams, so many woman can discover and live out theirs!

FF: What else should readers know about your small business journey?

I cannot reiterate enough: GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME! When you strive to get from point A to point B too quickly, you may have to slide back (like the game Chutes and Ladders). But when you find joy in the journey, taking it one slow step at a time, that's where stories of success are written.

FF: Let’s get connected! Share with us where you’re spending time.
